Inspire Young Immigrants to Achieve their American Dream—The American Dream DVD Series
The American Dream DVD Series tells the history of immigration to the United States and the stories of prominent immigrant citizens and their outstanding contributions to America. The series has won a Telly, the International Film and Video Silver Screen Award, an Accolade, and the Videographer Awards Award of Excellence. The series was distributed to over 36,000 teachers and students in classrooms across the country in the February 2008 editions of Scholastic’s Upfront®, ScholasticAction®, and Choices® magazines. The DVDs provide young people with positive role models and inspire them to define and work toward their own American Dream.
Support Promising Immigrants in Achieving their American Dream—The American Dream Fellows Program
Each year, the Foundation invites a number of promising immigrant students in their fourth year of college to apply to participate in the Foundation’s Fellows program. Through their academic accomplishments, community leadership, civic responsibility, ethical compass, creativity, and initiative, the Merage Fellows demonstrate the capacity to contribute to America as leaders in business, science, education, and the arts. The Merage Fellows share the passion and ability to give back meaningfully to America. The Foundation provides Fellows with two-year stipends totaling $20,000 per Fellow to support their pursuit of the American Dream. Encourage Americans to Recognize the Contributions of Immigrants and Discuss the Immigration Issues Facing the U.S.
America has received and continues to receive much from its immigrants. The Foundation directs a number of initiatives to increase the public’s understanding of the positive role played by immigrants in the United States. It hosts an annual National Leadership Awards dinner to recognize the significant accomplishments of successful and prominent immigrant citizens. It develops and distributes Occasional Papers on key immigration issues facing the nation. The Foundation convenes National Forums to address key immigration policy options.
